This is the code of conduct for Adaptive Path events. If you attend one of our events, we expect you to conduct yourself in accordance with these three very simple principles:
We're in the experience business; the least we can do is lead by example. Some of the behaviors that can lead to bad experiences include:
Keep in mind that it's impossible for us to maintain a complete list of bad behaviors, so we're not going to try. We think you have a pretty good sense of what makes for a bad experience.
Don't look the other way if you see something inappropriate happening. Don't just let a hurtful comment slide. Let those who may have been on the receiving end of bad behavior know that they have all of our support. Everyone, whether they are the target of bad behavior or just a witness, is empowered to speak up or report that behavior to Adaptive Path staff or volunteers.
Seriously, however funny you think that borderline-questionable joke might be, it's not worth it. We can't be there to help you make your choices, and frankly we don't want to be. So what you need to know is this: We need to be able to trust your judgment. If you show us that we can't trust your judgment -- by saying or doing something that creates a bad experience for somebody else at our event -- then we have to decide whether we can continue to trust you.
Aside from these three principles, there's one more important thing you need to know: We get to decide. If it seems like you have run afoul of this code, we are not putting it up for vote or public comment. It's going to be up to the Adaptive Path team what happens next. We will do whatever is necessary to keep our events a safe and healthy environment for participants. If that means removing you from the event, that's what we'll do. If it seems like law enforcement might need to be involved, we'll do that too.
